Vladimir Putin recently introduced the idea of a Russian Canon - a list of 100 works of Russian literature that would be integrated with Russia's education system. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/jan/26/vladimir-putin-book-russian-canon That got me thinking about a Canadian Canon...
